John Cooley - Managing Director
John graduated in Horticulture at Nottingham University in 1976 and has been involved in plant propagation ever since. He started his own vegetable propagation nursery in 1981 and started producing his own trays in 1986. This led him to setting up Proptek in order to share his revolutionary tray designs with other nurseries. He has travelled extensively and has visited countless plant propagation nurseries worldwide.
Paul Greenley - Sales Manager
Paul graduated from Leeds University with a BA Hons. degree in German and Spanish. He has since worked as an Export Sales Manager in a variety of different manufacturing businesses. He has travelled extensively to North America, Europe and the Far East, selling to a wide range of multi-nationals, distributors, OEM’s and end-users.
Mike Proffitt - West Coast Sales Manager
Mike has been Proptek's US West Coast Sales Representative since 2009 and brings over 40 years of nursery experience to the company. Whether it be improving the quality of your plants’ roots while adding more plants per square foot of green house, or getting multiple uses from the durable injection molded plastic containers which helps drive down the cost per plant, Mike is always available to discuss how our products can help growers keep costs down while maximising quality and profits.
Mike has always had a connection with the agriculture industry, having grown up on a wheat farm in central Kansas. Immediately following his graduation from Kansas State University, he moved to California and was able to use his degree in Ornamental Horticulture working with such industry leaders as Perry’s Plants, Color Spot Inc, and El Modeno Gardens as their Director of Production.
While serving the Nursery industry, he has been very active in several trade organizations, including International Plant Propagators Association, Southern California Ground Cover Association, and has also served on the Board of Directors of the California Association of Nurseries and Garden Centers, as well as the Nursery Growers Association. During these many years of service, he became very aware that to survive in the industry, a company must be as efficient and up-to date as possible to remain competitive, and he is passionate about helping his clients achieve their goals.
Violeta Ruiz Gonzalez - Responsable Habla Hispana - Sales Agent - Latin America
Violeta has worked with Proptek since 2007 as our Sales Agent for Spain, Mexico and Latin America.
Prior to that, she had a long history in sales in the wine industry and as a travel and tourism agent. Violeta also has a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and taught for many years and worked as Head of Languages.
She has a wealth of international sales experience and is utilising all of her skills and knowledge at Proptek to sell our market leading plant propagation solutions.
Jim Schmitz - Sales Representative - S.E. USA
Jim has been in the Turf and Horticulture Industry for 25 years. Most recently he was Plant Health Manager at Berry Nurseries, a 1000 acre container nursery in Quincy, Fl. After his time there he enjoyed helping clients in the Nursery Industry find valuable solutions to their needs as a Territory Manager for BWI Companies.
He attended a two year program in Turf Management & Landscape Design at Riverland Technical College and graduated Cardinal Stritch University with a Certification in Project Management.
Jim is passionate about the horticulture industry, helping people, and solving problems with new ideas and looks forward to working with Proptek to bring cost effective and innovative solutions to the propagation industry.
In his free time Jim enjoys spending time with his three sons playing golf, tennis, fishing and watching their hockey, golf, baseball, basketball, and football games.
Gale Siemens - Sales Representative - Northern California
Gale returns to Proptek after a short period out of the industry and represents the company as Sales Agent for Northern California. She resides in Watsonville and is conveniently located to serve the wide range of horticultural and agricultural growers throughout the Northern counties of California.
She has always been very active within the industry, attending agricultural trade shows and touring numerous nurseries. She is very familiar with the Proptek growing systems and looks forward to meeting and serving the many great people in the industry.
Warren Temperton-Ball - Technical Manager
Warren is a timed served Plastic Injection Mold Toolmaker who has been working in the Plastics Industry since 1983. Warren's varied career and ability to operate in varying time zones is invaluable to the procurement of our molds and the worldwide production of Proptek’s Plant Propagation Systems.
For the first twenty years of his career Warren spent his time manufacturing Plastic Injection Mold Tooling at Mason & Pinder Toolmakers in South Yorkshire in the UK. He has built Mold Tools for many different industries including Automotive, Medical, White Goods, Aerospace and Garden Products to mention but a few.
Warren has commissioned Mold Tooling in many countries around the World, including south east Asia.
He was a Tooling Engineer for BD a USA Pharmaceutical Company and Toolroom Manager for Wavin Building Products where he was instrumental in securing a win at the 2011 British Plastics Awards for “Best Business Initiative” for a Tooling Project consisting of ninety-five Mold Tools.
Shaun Martindale - I.T./Marketing Manager
Shaun graduated from Bradford University in 2009 with a BSc in Information Technology. After working in an I.T. support role after graduation, he soon after started working in a combined Marketing & I.T role and shortly after gained his CIM Certificate in Marketing.
Peter Schofield - Financial Controller & Company Secretary
After graduating from Leeds University, Peter qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1993. He has since worked in various manufacturing and service businesses up to Director level. Peter has vast experience within Finance, Management and Human Resources.
Elizabeth Rink-Neave - PA to John Cooley
Elizabeth has many years of experience in various secretarial roles from supporting individuals in small businesses through to corporate and board level assistance to Company Directors. Starting in the business quarter of Leeds in the late 1980's Elizabeth quickly rose from secretary to departmental secretary, and then to personal assistant.
A hiatus from the business world in the mid 1990's to pursue a career in classical ballet took Elizabeth overseas to many countries while creating invaluable life experiences. Having returned to the UK and back to the world of business over 10 years ago, Elizabeth joined Proptek in 2011 as Personal Assistant to John Cooley.
Ester Sella Cooley - Business Administrator
Sella works mainly on the financial side of the business and her role includes budgeting, costings, preparation of management information data, and various other projects depending on the needs of the business.
She has a degree in Accounting and prior to working at Proptek, worked at Ernst and Young in Jakarta, Indonesia, a Financial Services firm, as well as for an Accounting service company in the UK.
