Details & Features

Exceptional, industry leading, citrus, fruit, nut and landscape tree propagation container. The tall version of our largest Pot-in-Frame growing system for trees and shrubs, which is ideal for citrus and almonds, as well as larger landscape trees and shrubs.

The system features 8 loose fill air pruning containers that slot easily (either manually or mechanically) into the sturdy frame that acts like a benching and carry system. This eliminates the need for other expensive benching as it already ensures good air flow around the pots.

The pots feature Proptek’s patented root training and air root pruning technology to ensure natural, numerous and quality roots. The frame elevates the pot well above the ground to maximise air pruning down both the side and bottom of the pot. This elevated design also reduces the chance of picking up disease, as the pots are kept away from the ground and puddles.

The air pruning windows also ensure fantastic aeration and drainage of media.

All our propagation trays and containers are made from injection molded plastic, which benefits tree propagators in numerous ways:

– Plants pull incredibly easily and vastly reduces the likelihood of doing invisible damage to the plant.

– They last a very long time – no more throwing out Styrofoam or flimsy thermoformed plastic every year.

– Can be effectively steam sterilised with no negative effects on either the life of tray or plant pulling.

– We can design in features that really look after and nurture the plant, such as air pruning holes, root training ribs and in-built benching.

Also available with shallower 6 inch pots.

Please Note…

1 Full truck loads can fit more trays per pallet as a dedicated full size 53ft lorry is used for delivery. For partial truck loads, we cannot guarantee the height of the lorry, so pallets must fit into all commercial freight vehicles. If arranging your own transport, please advise us at the earliest opportunity on the internal height of your vehicle.

2 Trays are stacked loose or partly loose to get the maximum number of trays per container. This will result in lower unit shipping cost but also more labor to unload

I have used the 8 deep pot in frames since 2010 when I had the opportunity to closely participate in its design. The creation of this pot in frame marks a pivoting moment in the conception of modern professional citrus nurseries around the world. Technically speaking the pots are ideal for root development with adequate depth associated with internal ridges which direct the roots down and windows that cause air pruning enabling even more root mass to develop. The frame holding 8 pots make it an easy transition to automation and conveyance which are key features in any professional nursery in the new era of high labour cost. In my point of view, the question of which container to use in a professional citrus nursery has been answered by Proptek and its 8 cell deep pot in frame.

I think they [Proptek’s propogation containers] are one of the best root pruning pots out there.  For one thing they are in a 10×20″ format which allows us to be able to maximize our bench space, where other types of air pruning pots leave a lot of open bench space.

I also like the way the plant is easily pulled from the pot and then easily put it back into the pot when checking the roots.  I like the injection mold type of pot instead of cheaper thermoformed pots.  They last much longer and are definitely worth the price point.  I think these pots should be more widely used in the industry, therefore making better roots on plants for the whole industry.
